What to do:
Choose your favorite (or your least favorite) traditional tale from your country.
Think about the characters, the theme, and the supporting details. You might want to reread the story so that you are familiar with all of the elements. Now, rewrite the tale updating the setting. The setting is the time and location in which a story takes place. Use modern times and your town or country as the setting. Include important buildings, sites and physical features from your location in the plot. It might help if you ask yourself "What if…?” questions as you are brainstorming what changes

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to be someone else for a day--to walk a mile in their shoes? With this short activity you are going to give someone the chance to walk to school, virtually, in your shoes. Think about how you get to school. Do you walk? Ride a bike? Take a bus?
